Very wet day in Fondy!

Wow, we've waiting so long for the rain, it sounds wonderful! It's been raining all morning...steady, pouring rain with thunder and lightening to boot. Thought today was as good a day as any to begin blogging. The idea is to get some photos uploaded, and keep a family journal (of sorts) with snippets of info from the whole Thelen/Rochon/in-laws, etc. clan.

So, here goes. I suppose the big news is that the musical is in 2 weeks. That is the Community Theater production of "Music Man" with Eva as Marian, Elle as a townsperson/dancer, and Paul as the choral director. It's been a hectic schedule of rehearsals, long evenings and costume designs. Paul feels it will come together (as they always do) at the last minute. The last matinee is on the 15th. of July, also Elle's birthday, so we'll get together afterward for some cake and ice cream.

Eva had a great time at Summerfest. She saw some great bands and helped set-up with Rick, who works the stages. Rick made Eva a nice dinner the other night, chicken, vegies, etc, and decorated the back yard with chinese lanterns and flowers for their 6 month anniversary of dating. How sweet. Can we say AWW?

Elle has begun summer dance instruction for pointe ballet, and is in her 10th. year of dance so far. She loves it, but has a lot of pain today. We're going to order her some lamb's wool, and some convertible tights tonight...must haves, I am told.

Elise and James are meeting with our Deacon Larry this week for their marriage inventory, having already gone to the engaged encounter at the Cousin's Center.
They really enjoyed it. Everything else is going along smoothly so far...no bridezillas here! Caterer, photographer, florist, cake, dresses, jewelry, church and gathering hall are all taken care of. Honeymoon will be a trip to Mexico.

I also want to wish a Happy 1st. Anniversary to Gretchen and Justin (June 10th.) and Krissy and Dave (August 26th.) Here's a little saying from an anniversary card we got from Gilby and Marilyn for our first..."Oh, how you danced on the night you were wed...if that's what you did, you had rocks in your head!" Love you guys.

Got home Sunday evening from a 3 day excursion to Traverse City to celebrate Kylie's graduation from Traverse City West High School, and her transition to college in Houghton. The party had a "Yupper" theme, and included smoked fish, pasties, (pronounced pass-tees for the Yupper ignorant) and kegged root beer.
It was nice to see everyone, but the time was short, and as always, it would've been nice to stay a little longer. We stayed just across from the bay, and had a nice view from our window. We had a couple of late nights, and played games ate, drank and were merry. Thanks to the Nixon's for their hospitality.

Elise and James had a nice visit at Aunt Jo's last week, followed by an equally lovely visit with Jeff, Mick, Jason, Greta, kids, Gma Mare and others at the lake property. Very beautiful house and site on Lake Michigan. I'll try to get a few photos posted next time I blog.

This morning I visited our parish members at the hospital, which I do every Tuesday. I brought Aliyah along, since school's out, and the folks really enjoyed her. She was great...shaking hands and smiling...she even gave one old nun a hug! She said it brightened her day. I also visited the Hospice Home, and ran into the therapy dog lady (forgot her name) who visits weekly with her dog. It turns out, her dog is Sylvie's sister:) Elise thought that was pretty neat.

Now to aunty/sister Jo. We've had our entire church community praying for her.
Her surgery was yesterday, and went well. Doc removed a grapefruit-sized cyst, and the biopsy showed it to be benign. They also removed the fallopian tube on that side. She's expected to be home tonight. Her kids are at Grandma Myrtle's house. Jason brought her an azalea plant, and she told me to bring her some Hughes chocolates! Yes, she's feeling better;)

Also want to wish a "happy 1st. birthday" to Jason's baby Nicholas on the 15th. He shares his birthday with Ellie who'll be 14. Nic's party is slated for the 8th. at Lincoln Park in Manitowoc. We lovingly call him "baby brat"...that's like the bratwurst...because of his chubby thighs!

All for now...still raining...it sounds great!
