Busy Busy

Thanks yet again to the amazing Chris for highlights from the recent choral concert. The past few weeks have been very busy for everyone here. I've been working shifts for an injured coworker, and still have to manage my volunteer position, as well as my part time position in activities. Actually, I'm very fortunate to enjoy all of these, although it has been hard as heck sometimes at the group home. I try always to keep a positive attitude:) Hopefully Ellie will enjoy the next few days at Lawrence University for the Viking Choral Festival. She will leave at 7 tomorrow morning. Paul is playing for a gig with the Thelen family. Eva is joining him for Uncle Gib's 90th. birthday party.Hopefully I can post some photos from the events.

The show must go on...

Just a reminder that the ‘Lion, Witch and Wardrobe’ is being performed this weekend at Fondy High. Also wanted to let everyone know that during opening night Ellie was hurt in the fight scene.
She is OK and it was not serious, although it bled a lot, mostly on stage. She was performing a well practiced and well choreographed battle scene, when another actor accidentally hit her in the face with his sword. It hit across the bridge of her nose, and immediately started bleeding. She has 2 superficial cuts to the nose area, but the majority of the bleeding was from a bloody nose. She bravely finished the scene and ‘flew’ out. The backstage crew was there with gauze and worked on stopping the bleeding. They told her they would shut everything down if she wanted them to, but they were close to the end, and the bleeding was under control, so she opted to finish and even took her bow. The show must go on! The people in the front rows commented on how real the fight scene was...complete with blood! Of course, this was not in the script. Ellie will need a tetanus shot, but that’s about it. The area is swollen and bruised, but she even managed to schmooze with the audience afterward, complete with a blood stained dress. Quite an evening!

The big weekend show!

This week has been incredibly busy getting ready for the show. In addition, a coworker injured herself and I've picked up a full time schedule at work. My volunteer position has gone from 1 to 2 mornings a week, so this week has been a challenge. Of course Elle and her friends are excited about the show, and the dress rehearsal was a huge success with the elementary students as the guest audience. Debby and I plan to go tonight. Paul, Aliyah, Eva and friends, and I are going on Friday, and the Manitowoc family on Saturday. The show starts at 7PM, which is different from previous years, so locals will want to get there early for general seating. Thanks to the Fond du Lac Reporter for publishing (last week) a wonderful photo gallery of the show. It will surely be sold out! Thanks once again to Chris for the rehearsal photos:) There are many more on the Clementi Pix site link.

Amazing rehearsal video...

(Sorry, have to copy and paste)

No full costumes yet, but this is a great video of the fight scene from Lion, Witch and Wardrobe. Ellie is shown with glittery headpiece and for a short time the camera appears to be in it! Also there are some brief shots of her flight. Will be a great show!
