Beautiful weather

We enjoyed the great weather today by hiking a trail near the ledge in Taycheedah. After Elle's sax lesson, we're grilling out:) Some bad news though...both the dishwasher AND the stove quit working. A repair man is coming tomorrow. Bah, I have to do dishes tonight:(

The weekend has been one of the busiest I can remember. After state solo/ensemble, there was a vocal concert at Marian, followed by a symphonic band concert where Elle's jazz combo played before and during intermission. Kudos to all the musicians who gave such a great performance...Paul, Eva, Elle and her combo, Steve, Paul T. (singing some FABULOUS Puccini,) Devin and so many more. We followed up with Avatar and a feast of good chicken and veggies:)

Wow what a big day for Elle...she received 2 'exemplary' status at state today, this being a better standing than a first. 1 was for her vocal solo and 1 for her sax solo. To put this in perspective, the judges can give up to 2 per day...many don't give out any. And Paul in 30+ years of solo and ensemble has never accompanied anyone who's ever earned an 'exemplary' status, and Elle had 2 today!!! We are busting our buttons:) Celebrating tonight with chocolate strawberries, scallops and 'apples to apples' with a great group.

Not much planned today...just a haircut/style for Elise, and a visit to some church friends. Then it's off to the dog park with Jacques :p

Great day, Great friends

I had a lovely lunch yesterday with Stan and his sister-in-law, ages 89 and 95:) We went to Susie's in Lomira, and a nice lunch with lively conversation. After Elle finished school, she joined Cassie, Elise, Eva, Belle and I for a long walk through Rienzi. The weather was beautiful and critters Henry and Jacques tromped along. Elise plans to lunch today at Marian with her friends, and later we plan to grill out and take advantage of the weather once again by taking a long walk through Lakeside Park. Paul is working on getting the hardware for the outdoor baby swing.

4 dance recitals this weekend, 4 more next month:p

While we're awaiting Elise and little Belle's visit, we're working patiently through a difficult weekend of dance recitals and concerts. They are very enjoyable but also a lot of work. Elle's looking forward to Sunday evening.

Chris Roebuck (Fondy HS Class of 2005), recently auditioned in Green Bay for the Fox TV show "GLEE." (The family and local friends may remember that Chris sang with Eva in her high school senior vocal recital.) He just found out Monday that he made the Top 10 list! The person who receives the most votes will get another audition in front of the actual producers of the show. So, we are asking for you help.

We had a great feast today at Jeannine's house, and were able to have a long visit with the new baby Tanner. We also remembered Grandpa Gilbert today, on what would have been his 80th. birthday. We had one of his favorites...butterscotch pie:p Thanks to sister Jill for doing all the cooking.

On Paul and Kathy's birthday, I like to pull out the trunk of old photos of Les and Hilde's family. These caught my eye. On the back was simply written...the Maurer children. No year is given. I was hoping someone from the family might shed some light on who these lovely children are(?)

We wish sister-in-law Kathy all the best today, as she celebrates her birthday in Traverse City. The picture is from Christmas of 1982...what fun! We might have to toast tonight with Grandpa's very old bourbon :p

4 weddings in the next 2 months:)

Trying to manage work and vacations to include a wedding next weekend, 1 in June, 1 in July and 1 in August. Also Philadelphia the first week of July and 10 days of camping in August. Ugh...so much planning, but so worth it:)

Thanks to a co-worker and my residents for making me a belated birthday cake:) It isn't the prettiest, I'll agree, but it tasted great...angel food with chocolate fudge, caramel, whipping cream and toasted almonds. What a treat :P

This week we remember friend Stan on his birthday! I imagine the farm is really starting to bloom with all the different kinds of bulbs...and maybe there's a new batch of kitties! I must make a trip out next weekend. Now that Easter is over, we have a lot less on our plates. Happy Birthday Stan!

Heading home today...

Wanted to share these pics today. It just started raining hard in Nashville, and I'm hoping there are no delays. Easter vigil is tonight, and it's the biggest church service of the year. Hope I get home in time without interrupting everyone's schedule:) Spent last evening with Belle as Mom and Dad went out to eat and saw friends. It was very nice. She's such a good baby...smiles and laughs a lot:p
